biography
Ploi Pirapokin is the Nonfiction Editor at Newfound Journal and the co-editor of The Greenest Gecko: An Anthology of New Asian Fantasy forthcoming from Wesleyan University Press in 2021. Her work is featured and forthcoming in Tor.com, Pleiades: Literature in Context, Apogee Journal, The Offing, The Bellingham Review, and more.
She has received grants and fellowships from the San Francisco Arts Commission, the Creative Capacity Fund, the Ragdale Foundation, the Headlands Center for the Arts, Kundiman and others. A graduate of the 2018 Clarion Writers' Workshop, she also holds an MFA in Fiction from San Francisco State University and uses speculative fiction as a way to explore postcolonial poetics, imperialism in Asia, and Pan-Asianism. She currently teaches at the UCLA Extension Writers Program, the Creative Nonfiction Foundation, and at the University of Hong Kong.
